Newman Du Wors Wins Preliminary Injunction Against City in “Bikini Barista” First Amendment Case

Newman Du Wors attorneys Derek Newman, Jessica Newman, and Jason Sykes won a preliminary injunction in the Seattle federal court that enjoined the enforcement of two city ordinances. The City of Everett, Washington banned female coffee baristas from wearing bikinis at work. They hired Newman Du Wors to sue the City to protect their First Amendment and Due Process rights under the First and Fourth Amendments to the United States Constitution. The court granted the firm’s motion to prevent the city laws from going into effect. See Edge v. City of Everett, 291 F. Supp. 3d 1201.
