Newman LLP Wins Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals Decision Setting for Standard for Federal False Advertising After Winning the Case in the Trial Court

Newman LLP attorneys Derek Newman, Jessica Newman, and Jason Sykes won a federal appeal setting the standard for what qualifies as false advertising. After the firm won a lawsuit by summary judgement in federal district court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals wrote this landmark decision about what qualifies as a false or misleading statement and what injuries the plaintiff in a false-advertising case must prove. The appeals court “affirmed” the trial judgment, maintaining the win for the Newman LLP client. See Verisign, Inc. v. XYZ.COM LLC, 848 F.3d 292 (4th Cir. 2017).
