Steven Gray

Steve represents clients in litigation and patent prosecution. With a background in physics and electrical engineering, he has secured patents for inventions in software, artificial intelligence, electrical engineering, and automation technologies. He has prosecuted and enforced standards-essential patents (SEPs) in the field of wireless communications. Steve has also successfully defended patent owners in Inter Partes Review (IPR) proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. In litigation, he has represented clients in patent and trademark cases, and defended class actions. He recently assisted a major wireless communications company reach a global settlement in a complex, high stakes, multi-forum patent dispute.

Steve clerked for a judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, where more patent cases were filed than in any other court in the country. Before joining Newman LLP, Steve practiced in Hawaii and then in Utah at a large national law firm. He manages litigation and patents for clients throughout the country.
